Sosis Bandari or Persian sausage and potato skillet is a sandwich that is served as street food in Iran. This sandwich is made out of sausage, potatoes, onions, tomato paste, and spices and is one of my favourites!
What is Sosis Bandari?
If you are ever trying to get the taste of Iranian fast food definitely try this recipe out! Bandar in Farsi means port and the southern part of Iran where this delicious sandwich has originated has ports in the Persian Gulf.
Even though the dish has originated from the south, you can get it from anywhere in Iran since it is one of the most popular fast-food sandwiches in Iran.
Ingredients for Sosis Bandari
- Green bell pepper
- Vegetable oil
- Hot water
- Tomato paste
- Red pepper
- Salt and pepper
How to prepare Sosis Bandari?
This dish requires you to dice your potatoes into small cubes and separately boil them in a pan until they are lightly cooked. Slice your onions into thin strips and saute them in a different pan using two tablespoons of vegetable oil and add your turmeric.
Add your sliced sausage to the pan and fry them until they are light brown.
At this stage, you can add your tomato paste and green bell peppers and 3 tablespoons of your hot water.
Stir the food and add the cooked potato cubes into the pan. Add salt and paper along with red hot pepper at the very end and adjust it to your taste.
You can serve this with any kind of bread, but it would really go Baguette. The side dishes of the sandwich vary but the most popular ones are slices tomatoes and pickles along with fresh parsley!
- 1 lb Sausage
- 1 Potatoe Large
- 2-3 tbsp Tomato paste
- 1 Onion Large
- 1/2 tbsp Green bell pepper small
- 1/2 tsp Red hot pepper
- 1 tbsp Turmeric
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Baguette Bread
- Sliced tomatoes
- Fresh parsley
- 1- Slice the sausages, chop your green bell pepper and slices the onions into strips. Set aside.2- Cut your potatoes into small cubes and boil them over medium heat, once cooked transfer them into a plate, set aside.3- Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a different pan, saute onion until golden, add in turmeric and then add your sausages and saute until cooked, about 10 minutes.4- Add in tomatoe paste and 2 tbsp of water. Then add salt and pepper, chopped green bell peppers and red hot pepper. Mix well until combined.5- Add in cooked cubed potatoes and mix well.
